The "smart glass" panoramic sunroof is a power sunroof that can be electrically switched between transparent or opaque. This protection against glare and visibility protection functions when the ignition is switched on and can be controlled via the function key in the headliner. When the ignition is switched off, the "smart glass" is opaque. When the ignition is switched off and on, the previously set switching status is restored.

If the vehicle is equipped accordingly, the "smart glass" can be switched between transparent and opaque via the voice control (→ Vehicle settings menu) .

Switching the "Smart Glass" to Transparent

  1. Swipe backward on the function key → fig. 1 .

Switching the "Smart Glass" to Opaque

  1. Swipe forward on the function key → fig. 1 .

Control is responding differently than expected

Moisture, dirt and grease may limit the functioning of the control.

  1. Always keep the control clean and dry.

In the event of low outside temperatures - in particular, below freezing point - the switchover procedure only reaches its end state after a time delay.

Fig. 1 Next to the mirror base: Communication window (general example).

Windshields made of heat protection glass may have an infrared-reflecting coating and may, depending on the vehicle equipment, be able to be wirelessly heated. In order to ensure that wireless equipment from the accessories industry, e.g. toll systems, can function correctly, an uncoated area is present on either side of the interior rearview mirror (communication window) → fig. 1 .

The uncoated areas must not be covered from the inside or outside, or have stickers on them, because this could cause malfunctions.
